The Home Away From Home Orphanage shelters up to 50 of the most vulnerable children participating in our programs. These are often young girls, for whom a night on the street in Goma is profoundly dangerous; CAMME provides them safety, food, community, and a roof over their heads. While we work hard to place as many children as possible with adoptive families, we only do so when we’re certain that those families can provide the loving and safe environment that a vulnerable child needs. The orphanage is often a first step for a kid coming to CAMME, but by no means the last.
Constructed with generous support from Jewish World Watch, the orphanage has the basics, but as the number of kids coming to CAMME grows, our ability to provide the supplies and the equipment they need is limited. We are always in need of beds, desks, chairs, sheets and blankets, as well as toiletries and clothes. If you think you can help with this effort, please consider supporting CAMME with a tax-deductible contribution today.
